How
to Remove Message “Noise”
Noise is anything that distracts the
communication between the sender and receiver and consequently affects the
clarity of the message. In other words, noise is anything that interfaces with
the messages between the professionals. It is a common barrier in the
communication. As the noise affects the message clarity, there is a need for
the professionals to remove the noise in messages and make it clearer for the
receivers. In order to this, the language used in the communication should be simple,
understandable and as per the level of the receiver in terms of language,
technique etc (Loewy and Guffey, 2015). It
is because a clear and straightforward language eliminates confusion and
misinterpretation by making the message clearer.
Along with this, the use of idioms
phrases and other languages should also be avoided as these also create an
issue of less understanding among the people. Along with this, noise can also
be removed in the communication and message by using the appropriate source of
the interface between the receiver and sender. It is because the lack of
appropriate source also creates noise issue and consequently the understanding
of the message by the receiver (Newberry and Conrad, 2011). Another way is to use
two different means of communication in a professional context such as written
and oral, which will also be effective to avoid the issue of noise in the
message. One communication way can create misunderstanding and negative
emotions but two communication ways cannot create any distraction between the
sender and receiver and will enable to ensure the clarity of the message (Loewy
and Guffey, 2015). Along with the, the time should also be considered while
communicating by ensuring that receiver is free and focused for listening to
the message.
As I was saying that being a supervisor
in a foreign country and having sub-ordinates from various country creates a
language barrier. Though we use English to communicate still that’s not enough
to make them understand exactly what I want. Sometimes I had to use sign or
gesture to make them to work. We all have trouble saying exact English words or
sometimes they don’t understand those words too. I use my point finger to
device and show a demo to explain the process of making coffee or washing dish
in machine.
